We, at WatersEdge Trading Company offer our customers a relaxed shopping experience. We are located in Tofte, Minnesota, approximately 90 miles northeast of Duluth and right on Lake Superior. Also right out our door is the beginning of the Sawbill Trail; entrance to the beautiful Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

The WatersEdge building is actually a rehab of an old building owned by the Gervais family of Tofte.

The history goes like this......

In 1936 Ray and Flossie Gervais took a trip up the North Shore where they met Andrew Olsen who owned the property WatersEdge now sits on. Andrew was willing to sell the property to Ray and Flossie for $7.00 an acre with the total purchase being $49.00. Ray agreed to purchase it only if Andrew would pay the recording fee of $0.85. He did and they had a deal. Ray and Flossie built on the property but the building burned down within a year. They rebuilt in 1938 and ran it as a grocery store, bar, and gas station called Lakeview. The upstairs was eventually a dance floor and pool hall along with several rooms to house employees for the local iron ore shipping company. Lakeview was in operation until 1969 and then closed down. Then in 1972, Ron, Ray and Flossie's son, began cutting and stacking wood for himself out in front of the building. His friends and neighbors kept asking to buy some wood and so began another business. In 1991 we purchased the building and began working on the idea of WatersEdge Trading Company which opened on July 3, l994.
